On Saturday, July 15, the American Legion Department of Virginia honored two Alexandria public safety employees for their outstanding service. At the annual American Legion state convention, Deputy Deon Eaddy received the Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Award and Battalion Chief Jack Hoffman received the Firefighter of the Year Award.

Deputy Eaddy was honored for his professionalism, dedication to duty, commitment to his fellow deputies, and exceptional training work. Battalion Chief Jack Hoffman was honored for his outstanding leadership, teamwork, commitment to training, and life-saving actions.

The American Legion Post 24 had recognized both Deputy Eaddy and Battalion Chief Hoffman with awards earlier this year and then nominated them for the state award. Sheriff Dana Lawhorne and Fire Chief Robert Dubé are both extremely proud that members of their agencies received the statewide award, an honor that reflects very positively on Alexandria’s entire public safety team.
