Alexandria Kiwanis Recognizes Officers
For over 30 years, Alexandria Kiwanis has chosen an “Alexandria Policeperson of the Year.” This time, they just had to pick two. Alexandria Kiwanis recognized Officers Jonathan Lopez and Tony Moore for the contributions to the Department’s Community Policing Program. The officers for the past four years have lived within the Brent Plaza Apartments in West Alexandria, a high density residential low income community. Both officers established and built relationships within the development, especially with the youth. Available full time, on-duty and off-duty, Lopez and Moore made a difference.
During their watch there has been a 47 percent drop in crimes within the complex and an 81 percent reduction in major crimes. Plaques and watches were presented to the officers
Marylou McKenna presented an Alexandria Kiwanis Certificate of Appreciation to Chief Cook for his professionalism in keeping Alexandria a peaceful, low-crime community and his dedication to the youth of our community who have benefited directly from his service.
