SCAN’s 15th Annual Toast to Hope Raises $140,000 for Child Abuse Prevention
Former Alexandria Mayor Kerry Donley Helps “Light the “Way” and 2017 Cleary Award Goes to Wells Fargo
Alexandria,VA–SCAN (Stop Child Abuse Now) of Northern Virginia’s 15th Annual Toast to Hope fundraiser was held on October 28th at the United States Patent and Trademark Office in Alexandria. The event—which encouraged more than 300 guests to “Light the Way for Children and Families”—included food and beverage tastings as well as live music, a Silent Auction and a Live Auction emceed by former Alexandria Mayor Kerry Donley. The event raised more than $140,000 to support child abuse prevention programs in Northern Virginia.
A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the 2017 Cleary Award to Wells Fargo. Over the years, dozens of local Wells Fargo employees have actively engaged with SCAN’s volunteer programs, providing meals at parenting classes, teaching family budgets to parents in parent support groups, serving on our Board of Directors, and volunteering at community events like Rock at the Row and SCAN’s Croquet Day.
“SCAN is truly grateful for the generous hearts of local Wells Fargo employees,” said Sonia Quiñónez, SCAN Executive Director, “and we are equally grateful for the critical financial support the bank has provided to support SCAN programs over the years.” Wells Fargo’s Community Grants over the past decade have helped SCAN build its capacity to respond to children and families in need.
“That unique combination of financial and hands-on contributions makes Wells Fargo’s impact stand out in our community and brings meaning to their support,” added Quiñónez.
“Wells Fargo is proud to partner with SCAN to advance its important work,” said Del Galloway, Vice President of Communications for Wells Fargo’s Atlantic Region. “Wells Fargo is committed to improving lives and strengthening communities, and we applaud SCAN for helping create a safer, more caring world.”
This year’s Toast to Hope was made possible by lead sponsors Dave Cleary, Joe & Sara Carlin, Robert Yager and Wells Fargo. Dozens of other businesses and individuals provided additional sponsorships, in-kind donations, and culinary and beverage tastings including Main Event Caterers, Tempo, Brio Tuscan Grille, One Hope Wine, Forge Brew Works, and Virginia Imports, Ltd.
