Washington Business Journal Honors Alexandria Resident, Long & Foster Founder
Wes Foster presented with Lifetime Achievement Award from D.C. business outlet
The Washington Business Journal honored P. Wesley Foster Jr., on Dec. 7, with its 2017 Lifetime Achievement Award. The honor recognizes his contributions to the real estate industry as co-founder of Long & Foster Real Estate, the nation’s No. 1 independent residential real estate brand by sales volume.
The Washington, D.C.-based publication presented the award during its annual CEO of the Year and C-suite Awards event at the Watergate Hotel.
In advance of the awards, the business outlet interviewed Foster in his office at the company’s headquarters in Chantilly, Virginia, and published a video with an accompanying article headlined “Why Wes Foster won’t slow down.” The video and article offered a glimpse into Foster’s over 50-year real estate career and his transition into a new role as chairman emeritus of The Long & Foster Companies, parent company of Long & Foster Real Estate.
Foster and Henry Long founded the company in 1968, in a 600-square-foot office in Fairfax, with one employee. Long sold his share of the company to Foster in 1979. Today, The Long & Foster Companies is one of the largest real estate companies in the United States, with more than 1,800 employees and 11,000 agents. It has over 220 offices in seven states and Washington, D.C.
