The Alexandria Commission for Women To Host Tribute For Local Trailblazer

ALEXANDRIA,VA–During Women’s History Month, the Alexandria Commission for Women and the Friends of the Alexandria Commission for Women will host a tribute to the late Patsy Ticer, who served as the first female Mayor of Alexandria and as a Virginia state senator.

“There are few women who have had a more profound influence on Alexandria than Patsy Ticer,” said Kendra Marello, Chair of the Alexandria Commission for Women. “Patsy dedicated her life to those less fortunate and to making our community a better place to live and work. It is outstanding that we can turn the Salute to Women Awards into a Salute to Patsy this year.”

The event will be held on Monday, March 19 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at the George Washington Masonic National Memorial.   Tickets are $50 and proceeds will support the issues that Patsy believed in and worked tirelessly for during her impressive career in public service.

“This celebration in honor of Patsy will be spectacular, with many memories of what she did for Alexandria and the Commonwealth,” said Pat Miller, Chair of the Friends of the Alexandria Commission for Women.

Platinum Sponsors for the event include The Jen Walker Team from McEnearney Associates and Allison Cryor DiNardo from King Street Wireless.   For more information and to purchase tickets, visit FriendsofAlexWomen.org.
