The Child & Family Network Centers Launches New Relay for Pre-K Event
Family-friendly event to support early childhood education opportunities in Alexandria
The Child & Family Network Centers (CFNC) is launching its inaugural ‘Relay for Pre-K’ to be hosted on September 22nd, 2018 at St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes Upper School campus. Registration to walk is free. Participants who raise more than $100 will receive an event t-shirt. To learn more or to register, visit www.cfnc-online.org.
The three-mile walk will begin at approximately 10:00 am, with registration beginning at 9:00 am. Attendees are also invited to enjoy food, drinks, live entertainment, and more around the field.
“Relay for Pre-K is a fun and exciting way for the whole community to be involved in changing lives for the better,” said Executive Director Lisa Carter. “Each relay participant makes it possible for Alexandria’s children to get an early education they might not receive otherwise. Together we can improve the lives of children and families in our community and give these kids the smart start they need to succeed now and for years beyond their CFNC preschool experience.”
Relay participants are eligible to win prizes for raising the most funds. The event is currently sponsored by Lindsay Cars, BB&T, The Goodhart Group, and Onelife Fitness. For sponsorship opportunities contact Maggie Klefstad, Development Manager, at [email protected].
CFNC provides early education for children in Alexandria living at or below 250% of the poverty level. These are children of working families who make too much for programs like Head Start, but not enough to afford private pre-k. All proceeds from the Relay will help CFNC off-set the total yearly cost of $12,000 not covered by other funding sources to educate one child.
