City of Alexandria to Host 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony

The City of Alexandria invites the public to its annual 9/11 remembrance ceremony on Tuesday, September 11, at 10 a.m., in Market Square (301 King St.). The event will mark the tragic events of September 11, 2001; remember all those killed, injured or otherwise affected; and honor those who gave their lives to save others while courageously responding to the incident. In the event of rain, the ceremony will take place in the Lee Center Auditorium (1108 Jefferson St.).

Mayor Allison Silberberg will give remarks during the ceremony, along with representatives from Alexandria’s public safety agencies – Fire Chief Robert Dubé, Police Captain Don Hayes, and Sgt. Sean Casey of the Sheriff’s Office. The tribute will also include the “Return to Quarters” bell-ringing ceremony
