Landmark Mall Re-Planning Process Community Open House December 12, 7-9pm

ALEXANDRIA, VA–The Landmark Mall Re-Planning process, identified as a priority of Alexandria City Council’s approved Fiscal Year 2019 Long-Range Planning Work Plan, officially launched with a community meeting on November 14. The next public engagement event will be a Community Open House held on Wednesday, December 12 at Brandywine Living (450 S. Pickett St.). Participants may drop in anytime between 7-9 p.m. to ask questions or provide feedback about the process. An event location and parking map can be found at alexandriava.gov/Landmark.

The Landmark Mall Re-Planning process will build from the existing community vision, established in the 2009 Landmark/Van Dorn Corridor Plan, for a new Landmark Mall as a mixed-use center with transit and community open spaces. While most of the 2009 Plan elements will remain the same, this community process will consider some refinements such as new uses, incorporating flexibility of uses and signature buildings, and incorporating recently adopted City policies to promote traffic safety and multimodal transportation. This planning effort will result in the consideration of a master plan amendment to the 2009 Landmark/Van Dorn Corridor Plan, which serves as the guide for future development plans.
