We know it’s a difficult time for all of those affected by the government shutdown. Here is a list of some of the resources available to you to help you get through this difficult time.
- Capital One will refund you interest from the last pay cycle. If you can’t pay minimum payment they also have a program.
- Navy Federal Credit Union will allow you to defer 1, 2, or 3 months of mortgage payments. Also early withdrawal without penalty (e.g. CDs).
- TSP loans are available and interest paid is to yourself. Also paid out of your paycheck, so not sure how that works – no payments? Existing loan payments are deferred.
Pentagon Federal will allow an indefinite (length of furlough) deferral.

- Bank of America will provide overdraft fee reimbursement.
- Wells Fargo offers forbearance for 3 months.
- Several banks will allow interest free loans up to $6k.
- Verizon is waiving late fees and offering payment arrangements so customers can keep their service

- WSSC is waiving late fees and suspending shut offs.
- Sweetgreen is offering free dinner.
