Yes, the NYPD Marched in the Alexandria St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Alexandria, VA = The Pipes & Drums of the Emerald Society of the New York Police Department just added King Street in Alexandria, Virginia to their list of “been there, piped there.”

Credited with being America’s original police pipe band formed in 1960, the group is comprised exclusively of active and retired police officers who belong to the NYPD Emerald Society fraternal organization of Irish and Irish-American police.

Mayor Justin Wilson summed up the community’s excitement when he tweeted from the reviewing stand, “Amazing to have the participating in the parade for the first time!”
