Alexandria, VA – Beto O’Rourke, the former Texas Congressman and Democratic Presidential candidate, stopped in Alexandria for his Northern Virginia Town Hall on Wednesday. O’Rourke made six campaign stops around the Commonwealth the previous day, and spoke to more than 500 people in a packed room of the Crowne Plaza Old Town.
“At some point I may have to give in and be on your television set, but right now I want to be with you,” O’Rourke said.
The 46-year-old three-term Congressman from El Paso lost in his U.S. Senate bid against Republican Sen. Ted Cruz last fall and then announced his candidacy for president in March. During his hour-long speech, O’Rourke railed against President Trump’s border policies, and said he would not attack any fellow Democratic presidential candidates.
Alexandria City Councilor Canek Aguirre introduced O’Rourke.
