Inaugural Speed & Style Event Set for Sunday, May 19
Over 60 Vintage, Rare & Classic Cars to Takeover King Street
ALEXANDRIA, VA – The inaugural Old Town Festival of Speed & Style will debut on King Street near Alexandria’s waterfront on Sunday, May 19th from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The single-day free event will span across three blocks on lower King Street and will feature approximately 60 rare and unusual supercars from around the world such as Ferrari, Jaguar, Porsche, Lamborghini, Aston-Martin and Cobra for up close viewing enjoyment.
On display will be a collection of high performance and racing cars from the 1950’s, 60’s, 70’s and 80’s, paired with a fashion exhibition presented by the Old Town Boutique District from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. featuring Spring looks that pair with the themed cars on display. The event will also feature live music, street vendors, and provide festival goers an opportunity to explore Old Town shops and restaurants.
The festival is the brainchild of Rick Myllenbeck who is also the owner of Sonoma Cellar wine tasting room and restaurant in Old Town and is co-produced by a group of Alexandria vintage car collectors and enthusiasts who travel across the world participating in classic and exotic car events. “This is all about the community and sharing,” said Myllenbeck. “We want to share beautiful cars and local fashion with residents and visitors, while bringing attention to Alexandria’s charming and unique Old Town area and benefiting Act for Alexandria – a terrific community-based charitable organization.”
