Acting CFO at ACPS Moves into Permanent Role

ALEXANDRIA, VA – Alexandria City Public Schools, in a press release, announced today that Dominic B. Turner is now the permanent chief financial officer. This promotion comes after Turner served nine months as the acting CFO.

We are delighted to have Mr. Turner add his wealth of knowledge and experience to the finance team,” said Superintendent Dr. Gregory C. Hutchings. “The role of Chief Financial Officer is important to maintain transparency, and effective and efficient operations.”

In his time as Acting CFO, Turner guided ACPS through this year’s budget and adoption with the School Board and the City. He has made forming relationships with the City a priority to ensure that the budget’s components are aligned for both parties. Throughout the process, Turner stressed efficiency and transparency.

I am really pleased to assume this role and look forward to the opportunity to put my experience and knowledge to work on behalf of ACPS,” said Turner.

Prior to joining ACPS, Turner held budget analyst and management positions in Prince George’s County, Maryland. He holds a Master of Business Administration from the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland College Park.
