Rotary Club of Alexandria Awards $130k in Grants to Local Nonprofits
Alexandria, VA – At its annual Contributions Day Luncheon on Tuesday, June 11, 2019, the Rotary Club of Alexandria presented $70,000 in grants to 37 nonprofit organizations that advance literacy for children and adults and/or improve the lives of children, youth, seniors, and others with special needs in the Alexandria community. Additionally, the Alexandria Day Nursery, an affiliated fund of the Alexandria Rotary which supports a myriad of programs that serve Alexandria youth, were presented with $61,550 to 15 worthy child-serving organizations.
“We’re really excited to be able to distribute over $130,000 in grant funds to local charities and preschools in Alexandria. What makes it even more special is that volunteers at our fundraising event come from our beneficiary organizations,” said Rotary President Paul Anderson.
The luncheon was held at the Belle Haven Country Club. The funds awarded were raised at the Rotary Club of Alexandria’s signature event, its annual Taste For Giving held at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Building last fall.
“Our Rotary members are happy to work together with the community to help our Alexandria neighbors in need,” Anderson said.
