Alexandria, VA – The Yellow Ribbon Fund (YRF) is the proud recipient this year’s proceeds for the September 6th Patriot Day Golf Classic organized by the Belle Haven Country Club in Alexandria, Virginia in support of its Belle Haven Patriot Day Foundation, a 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization.

In remembrance of those lost their lives or those who were personally impacted by the horrific events of September 11, 2001, and in honor of those who protect our freedoms and serve our communities as emergency first responders and servicemen and women of our U.S. Armed Forces, Belle Haven Country Club created this tournament as a fundraiser to benefit local organizations that support wounded warriors and their families, as well as our valued local emergency service providers. In their first five years, the Belle Haven raised over $80,000 in net proceeds to benefit several worthy organizations doing great work in our local community, including Camp Freedom Ranch, Operation Renewed Hope Foundation, the Links to Freedom Golf Foundation, Fairfax County emergency responders and more.

“This year, we hope to raise $40,000 or more to benefit Yellow Ribbon Fund and the great work they do assisting our wounded military service men and women and the caregivers that take such good and selfless care of them,” says Christian Potthoff, General Manager of Belle Haven Country Club and President of the Belle Haven Patriot Day Foundation. Event registration includes lunch, on-course snacks and beverages, gifts and prizes, recognition program, and light fare dinner and cocktail reception.

The cocktail reception will feature Keynote Speaker First Sergeant Matt Eversmann, hero of the Battle of Mogadishu, and live music by Borrowed Players. For those not playing golf but attending the reception, there will be a suggested donation of $75 per person

The Yellow Ribbon Fund assists injured service members and their families while they recuperate at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and after they return home. Assistance includes free rental cars, hotel and apartment stays, support for family caregivers, and family-friendly events and outings that provide mental health breaks, nurture relationships under stress, and build confidence for those recovering from devastating injuries.
