In a story now going viral, the Wisconsin State Journal reports that a a top executive, David McNeil, has bought a 30-second ad during the 2020 Super Bowl for $5.2 million to praise the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine.

When McNeil, CEO of WeatherTech, was told his dog, Scout, had aggressive cancer and only a month to live, he was devastated. That’s when someone suggested UW Veterinary Care.

Scout underwent chemotherapy and radiation that specifically went after the tumor in his heart. About a month later, Scout’s tumor had shrunk by about 78 percent. A little while later, that tumor was down 90 percent. Today, the tumor is pretty much gone.

The real Scout is featured in the spot that is expected to draw 100 million viewers, according to Neilsen Media Research. The ad will air during the second quarter of the big game on Sunday, February 2.
