Alexandria, VA – It’s one of the little known gems in Alexandria, Aldo’s Italian Kitchen at 2850 Eisenhower Ave. Located in a small business area, this little cafe is helmed by Emanuele Cognetti, one of the nicest people you will ever meet.
When asked about his customers, he said: “I love to take of my customers. They bring me such warm feelings when they enjoy my food.”
And enjoy his food you will. Aldo’s is offering carryout every day for lunch and dinner. Ask him what the soup of the day is, I can assure you it is worth the trip just for that. If he is serving his Italian wedding soup that day, make sure you get two carryout containers because you will be sorry if you don’t.

His meatballs are meaty and tender. The red sauce are wonderful – not too acidic and full of flavor. I carried out the Chicken Piccata. The portion was enough to share with two large pieces of chicken and linguini in a lemony garlic sauce. With two slices of garlic, herb bread, all you need is a salad to complete your meal. And, by the way, he has great salads he add to the order. Pizza and sandwiches are also available.
Ask him what wines or beer he has for carryout and you have a meal fit for the Medici family!
