Alexandria, VA – In its nightly email, the city continues to urge residents to stay at home, unless going out is essential. And when out, they stress the importance of maintaining six feet of distance around others.

Hand Sanitizer

To help keep residents safe, the city released recommendations on how to use and store hand sanitizer. Using the product effectively is one way to help stop the spread of the coronavirus. When soap and water are not available, sanitizer with 60 percent alcohol should be used. Spread it on all areas of the hands until dry. For more info, click HERE.

Alcohol is highly flammable, so do not keep the product near a grill, for example. The product should be stored inside in a cool place to maintain its effectiveness. When traveling, it can be kept in the car, but be sure it is out of direct sunlight.

Pools Remain Closed

All public and private pools in Northern Virginia are closed at this time. When it is deemed safe to reopen them, outdoor pools will permit lap swimming only. There will be one swimmer per lane and no more than 10 people on the pool deck. More information is expected in the next week.

DASH Expands Schedule

DASH will start an expanded schedule on Sunday, May 24. With more routes available, passengers can maintain distance and safety. For details, click HERE.
