ALEXANDRIA, VA – In a letter dated June 10, addressing parents and guardians of Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) students, as well as the Alexandria community, Superintendent Dr. Gregory C. Hutchings, Jr., Ed.D., welcomed 21 new hires.

“ACPS has welcomed a series of new senior leaders this month who will fulfill the new roles established through the organizational restructuring announced in January 2020,” Hutchings wrote.

The letter indicates that the restructuring, which can be viewed HERE, was developed to streamline the levels of ACPS leadership and to promote accountability and diversity.

There is a new chief of staff, who will take charge of both the Department of Human Resources and the Department of Facilities and Operations. There are also four new executive directors.

The goal of the restructuring, Hutchings wrote, “is to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the [school] system.”

It supports goals in the 2025 Strategic Plan: Equity for All.
