Belle View’s Unwined Hosts a Relaxed Wine Tasting on a Picture Perfect Sunday

Alexandria, VA – On a crisp and cool September Sunday, Unwined hosted an outdoor wine tasting on the back patio at Belle View Shopping Center, socially distanced and masked, in two large tents under bright sunshine and a light breeze.

Wine Director Vicki Reh promoted the event on the store’s Facebook page, “We are lucky that two of our favorite wine purveyors, the father and son team of Olivier Lotterie and Marc Lotterie, will join Revel staff to pour a selection of wines from the Vineyard Brands portfolio.”

Tablas Creek Winery is located in Paso Robles, CA, with wines modeled after Rhone Valley traditions.

Headlined by Vineyard Brands ~ Famille Lotterie Tasting, the wine lineup included selections from South Africa, France, Italy, and Paso Robles, CA, at four stations. Unwined scheduled two consecutive 90-minute sessions at a very reasonable $15 per person and limited the number of guests at each session to 24. Registered guests received bottled water and a glass upon entering and were able to leisurely visit the stations, where each offered a white and a red from the featured growing regions. All wines are available for purchase at Unwined.

Owner Vanessa Moore was beaming under her mask at Unwined’s third outdoor tasting event this year. “We are so happy with the weather today!” she said. “We are thankful for people’s interest in these tastings, and we hope to host more through the end of October.”

Father and son Olivier and Marc Lotterie loved the opportunity to work together.

Olivier Lotterie was thrilled to not only showcase a couple of his best vintages, but also to do so together with his son, Marc, who has followed in his father’s footsteps in the wine business. “It is a proud moment for me to be able work with Marc and share our passion for wines together.” Marc agreed, and said, “It’s really cool to work for Elite Wines Imports where my dad’s portfolio and mine overlap. Vanessa has given us a great opportunity to finally work side by side, and it’s really fun!”

Rounding out the offerings at the tasting, Alexandria-based artist Leah Sturgis, who has a studio at the Torpedo Factory, displayed her jewelry for sale. Guests also enjoyed delicious light snacks passed around from Revel Wine and Craft Beer Bar, Unwined’s adjacent restaurant, during the tastings.

Cheers!
