Alexandria, VA – Senior Nutrition Program
Senior Services of Alexandria is working harder than ever, delivering almost 2,500 meals a week to help keep older adults safe in their homes. We need volunteers to help deliver meals on wheels to these homebound seniors. You must be 64 or younger, have your own vehicle and complete a short application and background check. Volunteers are trained to follow enhanced health protocols mandated by the Alexandria Health Department. If you would like to make a difference in a senior’s life, and can make a 3-month commitment to delivering meals at least once a week, contact Nathan Toews at [email protected].
Outreach
SSA is ramping up our outreach activities by introducing new ways for seniors to stay connected to the community. Each week we email the SSA Connection, which offers interesting and entertaining features including Ted Talks, recipes, exercise, and relaxing views of gardens and nature. We also share upcoming happenings around the area including local programs offered by the Alexandria Library. If you would like to receive this fun email, contact Lindsay Hemphill at [email protected] to be added to the mailing list.
SSA is working with the Office of Historic Alexandria and the Alexandria Library to reintroduce our monthly tours and information programs in a virtual format later this fall, so be sure to stay tuned for details about these events.
