Support Alexandria’s Arts Community During Virtual Fundraiser Oct. 24
ALEXANDRIA, VA – There have been a few recent fundraisers to support Alexandria’s restaurants negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The local arts community is struggling, too, because there hasn’t been a legitimate opportunity for exhibitions and performances. Helping local artists and the organizations that support them is the reason for ACT 4 #ArtsALX.
This virtual fundraiser will stream on Facebook Live on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. The Alexandria Arts Alliance is hosting the event in partnership with ACT for Alexandria. Many local artists and organizations have offered their assistance as well.
“We knew as the weather gets colder, gathering will become more challenging,” says Alexandria Arts Alliance Board President Melinda Kernc. “There is amazing and inspirational art happening all around us, and we want Alexandria residents to experience it, even if they are staying home.”
The event will feature 23 brief videos from artists and organizations representing visual art, dancing, music, and more. Alexandria Mayor Justin Wilson is scheduled to attend, and a surprise guest from the cast of “Saturday Night Live” will join in on the fun.
All proceeds from ACT 4 #ArtsALX will benefit the following:
- Alexandria Choral Society
- Alexandria Citizens Band
