500 Turkeys Short: DC Nonprofit Reaches Out for Help

ALEXANDRIA, VA –Central Union Mission is a faith-based nonprofit in DC. During Thanksgiving, they are known for distributing turkeys to families in need.

This year however, because of the coronavrus, they have not reached their goal of 1,000 turkeys. As of this writing, the organization is 500 turkeys short.

“We have 50 percent more needy families [this year] than ever before,” said Joe Mettimano, President & CEO of Central Union Mission.

Want to help feed families this holiday? You can safely drop off frozen turkeys at the Mission’s homeless Shelter, located at  65 Massachusetts Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20001. Donations are also being accepted at the Family Ministry Center at 3194-B Bladensburg Road, NE, Washington, DC 20018.
