ALEXANDRIA, VA-Alexandria author Kimberly Cataldo Thompson has reason to celebrate. Her debut cookbook, “Amen to the Garden: Dandelions to Dinner,” won a 2020 NYC Big Book Award. The book – the first in the ORGANIC GARDEN GIRL® series – has also been recognized as a Distinguished Favorite in the Cookbook category.

“I am honored to be recognized as both a Big Book Award winner in the Home & Garden category and a Distinguished Favorite in Cookbooks. This cookbook has been a pure labor of love,” said Cataldo Thompson. “The joy of receiving this recognition speaks to my many roles as mother, home cook, gardener, author, photographer, and health coach, and I am thrilled.”

The annual NYC Big Book Awards competition is judged by experts in the book industry who select winners based on overall excellence in presentation, editorial quality, and audience appeal. The goal of the Awards, according to a press release, “is to spread awareness about these remarkable books and connect them with their ideal reader.”

Judges received entries from all over the world, including six continents and more than 100 cities.
