Alexandria, VA – Yunnan by Potomac Noodle House opened to rave reviews in the Montgomery Center on North Fairfax Street in 2019. Introducing Alexandrians to the unique cuisine of the Yunnan region of China, the restaurant quickly became a local favorite.
As did many other local favorites during 2020, Yunnan owner Shao Bruce chose to close temporarily. During the hiatus, he redesigned the kitchen and the indoor and outdoor dining areas. “It was a risky move, given the hardships faced by small businesses this past year, but the risk paid off,” says Shao.
The indoor dining space is light, bright, and airy, while the outdoor dining space is serene and filled with plants, and it adds to the curb appeal of North Fairfax Street. Now in the soft-opening phase, Yunnan welcomes diners to enjoy a meal with friends or family under their foliage and fairy lights. It’s a welcoming space for all.
Shao proclaims, “Without the support of our customers, the aid provided by COVID-19 recovery programs, and the City of Alexandria’s willingness to work creatively with local small businesses, we wouldn’t have had the success we did this year.”
Yunnan by Potomac Noodle House is open in the evenings for dine-in and preorder and pick-up. Shao Bruce looks forward to expanding the hours and menu options of this neighborhood jewel.
