Alexandria, VA –

When one thinks of Mount Vernon, one often thinks of Mount Vernon — Estate that is. The historic heart of our community offers a wide variety of fun activities for all ages, not to mention that it is a living history lesson. Many of us are unaware of just what delightful options we have in our own backyard. Reenactments, parades, fireworks, wine festivals, beer festivals, and ceremonies honoring our veterans, there is something for every age and interest. In July alone, the Estate hosts a July 4 celebration on the Bowling Green and a naturalization ceremony for new citizens. In August, Purple Heart recipients will be honored at George Washington’s tomb. Check out the details at mountvernon.org.
