Old Town Businesses Can Participate in Alexandria’s Upcoming George Washington Birthday Parade

For First Time Ever, You Can Showcase Your Business on Parade Weekend

The George Washington Birthday Celebration Committee is one of the oldest community organizations in Alexandria.
From the time of the Revolutionary War, the City has celebrated George Washington’s birthday with parades, performances, and dances. In 1976, the present George Washington Birthday Celebration Committee was formed to organize and carry out the City’s annual celebration.

ALEXANDRIA, VA – Do you have a store, restaurant, or other retail business on or near the 2023 George Washington Birthday Parade route (see route map here) ?

The City of Alexandria’s George Washington Birthday Parade is on Monday, February 19, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., and for the first time, the George Washington Birthday Celebration Committee is offering opportunities for businesses to participate throughout this three-day weekend that brings thousands of residents and visitors to Old Town.

Organizers are offering the following:

Old Town Business Donation Opportunities

Supporter: $100

Old Town businesses that donate $100 or more will receive a window decal showing support for the Parade, and will be highlighted in a George Washington Celebration article distributed to 1,200+ recipients before Parade weekend.

Parade Donor: $250

  • Recognition as a Parade Donor in:
    • The Parade website and events page (www.washingtonbirthday.com)
    • The George Washington Celebration newsletter for 6+ issues (1,000+ recipients)
    • A Facebook post and tweet thanking the Parade sponsors

Supporting Sponsor: $500

  • Recognition as a Supporting Sponsor in the publicity and promotion for the George Washington Birthday Parade, including:
    • The Parade website and events page (www.washingtonbirthday.com)
    • The press release announcing the Parade and all February events
    • The George Washington Celebration newsletter for 6+ issues (1,000+ recipients)
    • A Facebook post and tweet thanking the Parade sponsors
  • Recognition as a Supporting Sponsor on Parade Day, including name on March of Order made available to all parade spectators

The parade theme this year is “George Washington: Alexandria’s Original Living Legend”, and the Parade Grand Marshals are the Living Legends of Alexandria, an organization which “identifies, honors and chronicles the lives of individuals who have contributed to the community in a way that has significantly impacted the quality of life in Alexandria and serves as an inspiration to others.” 2024 also marks Alexandria’s 275th Anniversary!
