ALEXANDRIA, VA- Alexandria resident Glenn D’Amore has worked for Silver Diner for the last 27 years. On Dec. 5, he was promoted to president.

“Glenn has done so much for our multi-unit restaurant group, Silver Brands and it was important to us to recognize his hard work and dedication,” said co-founder and CEO Robert Giaimo. “This well-deserved promotion not only acknowledges Glenn’s many company achievements, but is also indicative of our company culture and philosophy to retain top talent and promote from within.”

Beginning his career in 1997 as a manager, D’Amore has held a variety of positions and played a crucial role in the growth of Silver Brands – the restaurant group’s portfolio, which consists of four restaurants. In his first year on the job, he developed a marketing plan to attract families – one that is still in use. As Chief Operation Officer, he oversaw the transition to “fresh and local” sourcing that resulted in a 100 percent comp sales growth over the last decade.

Born in the Bronx, D’Amore graduated from the University of Delaware in 1996 with a degree in hospitality. While attending a job fair after graduation, he learned that Silver Diner was hiring and left with a job offer.  He recalled that having just completed four years of school, his parents were unsure about the job.

“They quickly came to understand the unique restaurant qualities that had resonated most with me; namely, the Silver Diner family culture and their wholesome food approach,” D’Amore said. “It is these qualities that have helped me thrive in this business, fueled my professional passions, and have given me great success and a lifelong career.”
