ALEXANDRIA, VA-Alexandria is a community of givers. That shows each year during the Spring2ACTion fundraising event. The online fundraiser takes place over a 24-hour period, called Alexandria Giving Day, and supports local nonprofits. For the second year in a row, ACT for Alexandria surpassed its $2.5 million goal, raising $2.9 million yesterday (April 24).

In all, 7,325 donors, 188 nonprofits, 67 businesses, and 33 sponsors participated. The top three recipients are: Move2Learn with  $152,086, Carpenter’s Shelter with $150,214, and Casa Chirilagua $89,610.

“Thank you for helping us give back to the community we love!” ACT President and CEO Heather Peeler said. “Because of 7,265 donors, Alexandria nonprofits now have the resources they need to continue their critical work and support those who need it most. The power of our generous community was on full display, making Spring2ACTion 2024 our most successful giving day yet.”

According to the ACT for Alexandria website, Spring2ACTion’s vision “is a community where everyone contributes to our nonprofit organizations.”

It has three goals:  grow philanthropy, grow revenie, and grow supporters.
