Alexandria, VA – The more than $1 million renovation of McNaughton Fields Park, home to the Woodlawn Little League, has begun. Since the park’s creation in 2016, a specific vision for the facility has been in place and is now well on the way to becoming a reality.

Mount Vernon Supervisor Dan Storck and Woodlawn Little League community members celebrated the beginning of construction for the permanent facility with restrooms, concessions stand, and storage facilities in early spring.

“McNaughton Fields Park is another example of our hundreds of open spaces within the Fairfax County Park System that are so beloved by the communities they serve. We at the Park Authority certainly appreciate the collaboration and support of the community and Supervisor Storck in making it possible for this new facility to be constructed,” said Mount Vernon District Park Authority Board Member Linwood Gorham at the March event.

“Our youth are our greatest asset, and this is a significant investment to support the continued development and engagement of our young people,” said Storck.

“I am proud to have made a difference in this decade-long effort by parents and community members, who spearheaded a fundraising effort that generated $200,000 to get this project done. I also want to thank everyone who contributes their time, energy, and effort to working with our young people in any capacity. Together, we look forward to many wonderful experiences for years to come at McNaughton Fields Park,” he added.

Active construction is anticipated to be completed by early fall, weather-dependent. McNaughton Fields Park is located at 5320 Pole Road in Fort Belvoir.
