Native Alexandrian Christian Tabash Makes US Olympic Rowing Team
ALEXANDRIA, VA-Christian Tabash, 25, a native of Alexandria, has been named to the US Olympic Rowing team. He will represent the country in Paris this summer. A current grad student on the University of California Men’s Rowing team, he is a graduate of Harvard College. While there, he received the Harvard Foundation Certificate of Recognition, which according to his bio on USRowing.org ” recognizes students for their outstanding contributions to improving intercultural and race relations at the college.”
The website says he started in rowing after his father suggested it – if he didn’t make it in basketball. Watching rowing for the first time on TV 16 years ago, Tabash believed then that he could succeed because of his size and work ethic.
Tabash earned his spot on the national team by qualifying at the 2024 World Rowing Final Olympic & Paralympic Qualification Regatta in Lucerne, Switzerland.
He has been a member of three other national teams: the Junior in 2016 and 2017, and the Under 23. (2021),
A proud Palestinian American, he won the eight at the 2024 World Rowing Final Olympic & Paralympic Qualification Regatta. He also earned bronze in the four with coxswain at the 2021 World Rowing Under 23 Championships. He took home silver in the eight at the 2017 World Rowing Junior Championships. In international competitions, his achievements include gold medals in the eight at the Stotesbury Cup in 2015 and 2016.
In high school at Gonzaga, he was honored with an All-Met selection by The Washington Post in 2016.
