Calling All 2-Legged and 4-Legged Friends to Join the Fun at Paws & Pours This Sunday, June 9

Local nonprofit hosts first annual fundraiser with live music, wine and beer, a silent auction, and special treats and agility exercises for the doggies

Alexandria, VA – Pawfectly Delicious Dog Treats, the Alexandria-based nonprofit dog treat maker that provides meaningful paid work and job training to adults with disabilities, is hosting its first-ever fundraising event, Paws & Pours.

The event takes place this Sunday, June 9, at Alexandria’s Fort Hunt Park. Pawfectly Delicious Executive Director Anne Tuccillo said her team is beyond excited for the event, both for the fun and for the opportunity to raise money to further their cause. “We created Paws & Pours to help raise awareness of our organization’s objectives and to expand our reach to employ even greater numbers of individuals with disabilities,” said Tuccillo.

Raising awareness and financial support is key for Pawfectly Delicious. As Tuccillo explained, “Disabled individuals usually are the last to be hired and the first to be fired. Most of our employees are joining our team in their early to mid- 20s, and this is the first paid job they’ve had. What we do is make delicious and all-natural dog treats, but WHY we do it is to provide the dignity of a job that pays to this often ignored and underestimated population.”

The team at Pawfectly Delicious has been busy gathering items for the silent auction, which launched online this morning, a few days ahead of the June 9 event. Auction items range from a luxurious Costa Rican getaway to dozens of gift certificates and baskets for pet lovers, a private aviation experience, gift certificates for eating out, and a wine tasting for 20 people. Check out the auction items here. You can also get a head start on bidding!

Paws & Pours promises a memorable afternoon of fun, with WJLA-TV Meteorologist Steve Rudin at the helm as the event ambassador, welcoming both humans and dogs to come out for a great time in support of a worthy cause.

Here are just some of the highlights planned for the humans in the crowd:

  • Live Music: Groove to the tunes of the Hip Replacements
  • Food: Courtesy of the culinary wizards at Crudités All Day
