What Events Are Planned for the Fourth of July in Alexandria?

ALEXANDRIA, VA-This afternoon (June 25) Visit Alexandria released a lineup of events to celebeare the Fourth of July. City Birthday festivities are also listed.

Friday, June 28: Soak up a performance from the National Concert Band and 18th-century entertainment before the pyrotechnic party begins during Independence Fireworks at George Washington’s Mount Vernon. Note: Tickets for Saturday, June 29 are sold out.

  • Thursday, July 4:

o   Return to the first president’s home on Independence Day itself for An American Celebration at Mount Vernon, complete with daytime fireworks, a moving naturalization ceremony and interpretation surrounding Mount Vernon’s enslaved laborers.

o   Make Alexandria your home base during Washington, D.C.’s iconic evening fireworks show, visible from vantage points throughout the city.

  • Saturday, July 13: The City of Alexandria celebrates its milestone 275th birthday and the USA’s 248th birthday with a grand fireworks display at 9:30 p.m. at Oronoco Bay Park. Experience special programming and activities at the George Washington Masonic National Memorial and Waterfront Park, plus live jazz from the Yellow Door Quartet and an art show opening at Canal Center Plaza, among ten vantage points for fireworks viewing. The big birthday experience includes cupcakes, local vendors and live music from Alexandria Symphony Orchestra. Plus, Port City Brewing Company will offer its special edition ALX275 brew at Oronoco Bay Park.
