What’s Brewing in Alexandria?
A new Saturday morning podcast of coffee chat and local news
Alexandria, VA – What’s been happening around Alexandria? Local video and sound guru David “Del Ray Dave” McClure has been slow roasting a local chat podcast idea for a couple of years and is now ready to launch in partnership with The Zebra Press.
“I know people are talking about local stuff—new restaurants and businesses, potholes, and yes, local politics, and I’ve been thinking about setting up a regular Saturday morning opportunity in my Del Ray studio,” says McClure.
McClure’s concept is simple. Get together with some friends and discuss current events over a cup of coffee or tea during a video live stream on Zebra’s Facebook Page and Z-TV YouTube Channel. Who knows who might stop by the studio for a cup and a chat? The community can also join the conversation through live video or audio call-ins.
What’s Brewing in Alexandria?™ is a collaboration of The Zebra Press and Del Ray Dave Community A/V Productions, LLC (delraydave.org). In March of 2020, with the pandemic lockdowns looming just days away, The Zebra Press and David McClure, then a contributor to the Zebra, created the Z-TV Network and launched Z-TV Live!, a series of several hundred Facebook livestreams to help the Zebra community stay connected during the forced isolation and provide an online venue to still participate in local happenings. From that experience, David created Del Ray Dave and continues to contribute to the Zebra.
The soft launch of What’s Brewing in Alexandria?™ is scheduled for Saturday, August 10 at 10:00 a.m. “I think people will enjoy it,” says McClure.
