“We are pleased with the outcome of this drive,” said Volunteer Alexandria’s executive director Marion Brunken. “It not only collected the necessary food, but also raised a lot of awareness in the community, Dozens of volunteers were engaged in this effort, as well as numerous businesses.”

The food drive will ensure that ALIVE! has more resources to support the thousands of people it serves.

Community organizations helped make the drive a success. They include:  Passport Auto Group, The Hoffman Town Center, Lisa Groover Real Estate-McEnearney Associates, Harris Teeter, Fitness Together, Wegmans, the Kiwanis Club of Alexandria, and the Zebra Press

In a statement Jenn Ayers, Executive Director of ALIVE!, expressed her gratitude to Volunteer Alexandria and the businesses around town that kept a box for donations. “Donations like the ones we’ve received go a long way to keeping our costs down and provide a healthy variety of food to people who need help.”
