Select Alexandria Schools Providing Free Breakfast and Lunch for Entire School Year

ALEXANDRIA, VA-As the school year begins Monday, ACPS is reminding parents and guardians that students are eligible for free breakfast and lunch through the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) program.

The schools below are participating in the program this year:

Alexandria City High (ACHS) King Street Campus
ACHS Minnie Howard Campus
Cora Kelly School for Math, Science, and Technology
Ferdinand T. Day Elementary School
Francis C. Hammond Middle School
James K. Polk Elementary School
Jefferson Houston PreK-8 IB School
John Adams Elementary School and Early Childhood Center
Patrick Henry K-8 School
Samuel W. Tucker Elementary School
William Ramsay Elementary School

Students who attend these schools will receive free meals every day for the 2024-2025 school year. No application needed. Households with members attending these schools will receive information about the CEP, including contact info for queries.

For the schools NOT listed above, eligibility will be determined using household size and income. The following chart appears in today’s ACPS Express newsletter:

  • 1 – $19,578  – $19,578.01-$27,861
  • 2 – $26,572  – $26,572.01-$37,814
  • 3 – $33,566  – $33,566.01-$47,767
  • 4 – $40,560  – $40,560.01-$57,720
  • 5 – $47,554  – $47,554.01-$67,673
  • 6 – $54,548  – $54,548.01 – $77,626
  • 7 – $61,542  – $61,542.01-$87,579
  • 8 – $68,536  – $68,536.01-$97,532

For each additional family member, add:

  • $6,994 for maximum household income for free meals
  • $9,953 for household income for reduced-price meals

Households receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits (formerly the Food Stamp Program) or who receive Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) may be automatically eligible for free meals. Information will be sent by mail. If interested in applying, forms are available in the front offices of all schools at Central Office. The application is also HERE.  Only one application is necessary for each household.

CORRECTION: An earlier version of this report said every ACPS student will receive free breakfast in lunch. This applies only to students at the schools listed. The error has been corrected.
