Free Event for All Ages: Tons of Trucks Rolls Into Alexandria Sept. 21

ALEXANDRIA, VA-Have a kid who loves trucks? Don’t miss Tons of Trucks when it rolls into Alexandria Saturday, Sept. 21. The popular event is a hit every year. It is taking place from 10 a.m. to p.m. at Chinquapin Park (3210 King St.), rain or shine. Admission is free to celebrate the city’s 275th anniversary.

“Attendees of all ages are invited to explore and get behind the wheel of their favorite City vehicles, meet the staff who help build, maintain, serve, and protect the community, and learn about the vehicles they use,” reads the Alexandria eNews bulletin about the event.

Department of Recreation, Parks & Cultural Activities

Plenty of activities are planned too. Participate in an art project with the city’s Mobile Art Lab, for example. Attendess will get giveaways and have photo opportunities with trucks. Food truck vendors will all be on site. New this year, the firsy 60 minutes will be what the announcement calls a “sensory-friendly hour.”

Organizers say attendees can take DASH Bus or use Capital Bikeshare. A valet will be available to assist with parking bikes and scooters. If you are driving, Parking is available at Alexandria City High School (3330 King St.), the First Baptist Church (2932 King St.), and Oakland Baptist Church (3408 King St.).
