ALEXANDRIA, VA-Alexandria City Public Schools is looking for help to create their next strategic plan, which will determine the direction of the school system over the next five years. ACPS is seeking forty residents who will make up an advisory team during the creation of the plan.
“This is a unique opportunity to have a direct impact on the direction ACPS will take over the next five years,” ACPS said in a press release. “Our planning process will prioritize community collaboration, transparency, alignment, systems and processes, and most importantly, equity.”
The current plan, known as 2020-2025 Equity For All, expires in a year.
The release says ACPS is looking for people with the following qualities:

Think Holistically and Creatively: Can see the big picture while considering practical solutions.

Act as Constructive Critics: Are willing to offer constructive feedback to improve the plan.

Reflect Our Community’s Diversity: Represent the rich diversity of our school division in terms of background, experiences and perspectives.

Commit to the Process: Are willing and able to dedicate time to this important work, including attending in-person meetings once a month, starting in October 2024 to January 2025, and participating in ongoing discussions throughout the 2024-25 school year.
