ALEXANDRIA, VA-“Condé Nast Traveler” readers have once more selcted Alexandria for third place on the magazine’s Top 10 Small Cities list. The city retains the title for a third straight year, falling behind only Santa Fe, NM and Charleston, SC. Visit Alexandria’s announcement reports that 575,000 people voted.

The blurb on the magazine’s website highlights Old Town, reading in part, “Most folks start to imagine moving there immediately after setting foot in Old Town, once they’ve strolled the red-brick sidewalks, clocking street after street of perfectly preserved rowhouses from the 18th and 19th centuries.”

In addition to Alexandria’s win, DC placed fifth on the publication’s Top 10 Large Cities list.

High rankings in “Condé Nast Traveler” and other travel magazines have increased this city’s notoriety, says Visit Alexandria, and as a result it has appeared on other lists such as Best Cities in the US by “Travel + Leisure.”

The Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards is the longest-running and most prestigious recognition in the travel industry.
