Alexandria Women for Good Award Volunteer Alexandria $11K Grant
Donation will aid the Toys4ALX toy drive this holiday season
ALEXANDRIA, VA-Local organization Alexandria Women for Good (AWG) has awarded a grant of $11,250 to Volunteer Alexandria (VolAlx). This donation is part of AWG’s effort to support nonprofits that impact the lives of residents.
VolAlx was one of six finalists for the third quarter of the year. AWG board member Lee Platt submitted the nomination. VolAlx’s executive director Marion Brunken gave a presentation that secured the funds for VolAlx. The funds will aid the Toys4ALX toy drive this holiday season.
We are so grateful to this group and are just over the moon with this generosity. The contribution will help with this years’ toys4ALX donation drive and distribution and allows us to purchase items for the older children,” said Brunken. “This will make an enormous difference for our event.”
For 44 years, VolAlx has helped nonprofits and city agencies find volunteers. It mobilizes residents and businesses who want to serve the community.
Founded two years ago, AWG conists of like-minded women who enjoy networking, donating, and fostering a sense of community. To date, they have raised nearly $100,000. All of the money has been donated quarterly to local nonprofits.
“We are thrilled to support Volunteer Alexandria and the important work they do in our community,” said Laura Turner, a spokesperson for AWG. “Through this grant, we hope to further empower Volunteer Alexandria to continue connecting volunteers with local organizations and create lasting impact throughout Alexandria.”
