David Keltz Returns as Poe for Two Nights at Alexandria’s Lyceum
ALEXANDRIA, VA-Edgar Allen Poe, portrayed by actor David Keltz, returns to the Alexandria History Museum at The Lyceum (201 S. Washington St.). Keltz embodies Poe and has been praised by The Poe House and Museum in Baltimore, The Poe Museum in Richmond, and the Poe National Historic Site in Philadelphia.
Keltz will perform twice, Oct. 30 and 31. Both nights of “Poe in Alexandria” start at 8 p.m. Doors open at 7:15 p.m. Tickets are $25 per person, and reservations are strongly recommended. Purchase tickets HERE. Proceeds benefit Historic Alexandria’s many museums. All ages are welcome.
Poe, who lived from 1809 to 1849, penned poetry (“The Raven”) and short stories (“A Tell-Tale Heart”), known for their macabre style. Poe was a master of suspense and horror, whose work was respected during his short lifetime, and grew in stature after his death at 40. His body is interred at a cemetery in Baltimore, MD.
According to an Alexandria eNews bulletin, Keltz’s performance will consist of short stories, poetry, literary criticism, and musings – all originally written by Poe.
