ALEXANDRIA, VA-Ironistic hosted the 17th annual RUN! GEEK! RUN! 5K last month in Alexandria. The race raised more than $45,000 for Inova Peterson Life With Cancer. Roughly 700 runners, of every skill level, from across the country, took part.

“We are thrilled with the overwhelming support from our participants, sponsors, and volunteers,” said Rita Foss, Executive Director of RUN! GEEK! RUN! 5K. “The Alexandria community and beyond has once again demonstrated its commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of those affected by cancer.”

Peterson Life With Cancer offers a wide range of programs to help patients and their families cope with the challenges of living with cancer. The money raised will go toward counseling services, peer group support, educational programs, and wellness activities.

Jennifer Bries, the executive director of Peterson Life With Cancer, thanked the 5K’s organizers and Ironistic in a statement.

“The money raised makes a huge difference in the lives of people with cancer,” she said, “and it’s truly inspiring to see the community come together. And it was a lot of fun too!”
