Ron Haley, Beloved FedEx Senior Customer Service Agent, and Zebra Newspaper Carrier, Dies at 71

ALEXANDRIA, VA – Ronald Edward Haley was born in Washington, D.C., on April 27, 1953, to the late Harold and Christine Haley. He peacefully entered eternal rest on October 23, 2024.

Ronald, affectionately known as Ron, grew up in a loving Christian home filled with joy, laughter, music, and family gatherings. He was educated in the D.C. Public Schools. Ron attended Prince George’s Community College part-time for years and transferred to the Catholic University of America, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing.

Ron was proud of his two children, Ron and Angelique, and the strong foundation they are providing for their families. They shared Ron’s love for family, reading, history, and education. Their memories will keep Ron’s legacy alive in their daily actions.

Ron’s strong work ethic developed during college. Ron was employed by FedEx as a Senior Customer Service Agent from November 1984 until his death. His FedEx family loved and admired Ron’s exemplary work ethic, mild temperament, and supportive nature. Ron was energized by hard work and an entrepreneurial mindset, which led him to start R&H Hauling and Distribution Services. He worked in partnership with his brothers, Eric, Hillary, and brother-in-law, Richard, delivering papers and carrying news and history into the community.

Ron made a meaningful impact in the community, serving the homeless and unemployed. He was generous and compassionate, giving resources and time to anyone in need. He had a way of caring for any family member, going above and beyond to ensure their needs were met. He was passionate about buying cars and trucks from auction and giving them to family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold E. Haley and Christine R. Anderson, his brothers, Jerry and Eric Haley and sister, Holly Haley. Ron leaves to cherish his memory, two children, Ronald Goodwyn (Cassandra) and Angelique Bullock (Tim); three grandchildren: Jaxon and Parker Bullock and Makhi Goodwyn. Siblings: Charlene Hamilton (Bobby), Patricia Hawkins (Richard), Phyllis Frazier-Young, Hillary Haley, Lindsey Robinson, and brother Dennis Hall. Aunts: Grace Anderson, Christine Ambers, Jean Ambers and Alice Johnson. Uncles: Raymond Ambers, Henry, Joe and Sylvester Haley. Longtime friends Kathy Goodwin and Delores Riley, as well as a host of nephews, cousins, friends along with his FedEx family.
