Tickets Available for Alexandria Cider Festival Nov. 23
Event beneifts Historic Alexandria Museums
ALEXANDRIA, VA-Cider Week is Nov. 15 to 24. To celebrate, the Alexandria Cider Festival will be held in the garden of Lloyd House (220 N. Washington St.) on Saturday, Nov. 23.
The event, from 1 to 5 p.m., is hosted by the Office of Historic Alexandria in partnership with with the Virginia Association of Cider Makers. It will feature cider tastings, a souvenir cider glass, live music, tavern games, local crafts and organization booths, and even a history lesson.
According to the Alexandria eNews bulletin about the festival, “Cider was a popular beverage in 18th and early 19th century Alexandria and offered at area taverns, including Gadsby’s Tavern. Thomas Jefferson cultivated eighteen varieties of apples in his orchard at Monticello (planted between 1769 and 1814).”
Try cider from Albemarle Cider Works, Blue Bee Cider, Lost Boy Cider, and many more makers. Roaming Coyote and Scuttlebutt Bakeshops food trucks will be on-site with food for purchase.
