ALEXANDRIA, VA-The Alexandria City High School Swim and Dive team will take a plunge into the new Minnie Howard pool (3801 W. Braddock Rd.) when the 2024-2025 regular season opens. The Titans host the West Springfield Spartans Dec. 6 at 6 p.m.
The Titans are off to a great start, having won the scrimmage All-City Invitational last month, an annual matchup against St. Stephens and St. Agnes, Bishop Ireton and Episcopal high schools. ACHS, under the leadership of coach John Gullickson, has taken home the coveted Mayor’s Trophy in the last six meetings between these teams.
The team is led by Gullickson (swim) and Diller Matthews (Dive). The captains are Mac Coulby, Jack Sutherland, Rachel Cotton, Jonathan Ramsdell, Mila Aida and Maya Fitzgerald.
“The team looks strong and I’m expecting several team records to be broken this year,” Gullickson said.
This year is the first time in Titan history, that its swimmers and divers will not have to board a bus for a meet. “We are all really excited to have our own pool,” said Jack Sutherland a senior on the swim team. “It was hard to build a Titan swim and dive fan base. It will be much easier for family and friends to come and cheer us on.”
Come watch as history is made. The Titan swimmers and divers ask for every fan’s support. See schedule below.
