Program Rewards Residents Wirh Energy-Efficient Homes

ALEXANDRIA, VA-Have an energy efficient home? The City of Alexandria wants to recognize you. Its new program, Eco-City Homes, was announced today (Dec. 3), created for the purpose of honoring residents who keep their homes sustainable, save money and energy, and make their residence more comfortable and healthy.

Recognition is open to renters and owners (home and condo) Apply HERE. There are different applications depending on your circumstance. The Eco-City Alexandria website indicates that the application is a checklist. After completion, you will receive a confirmation email. Five business day later, you will receive a second email describing your recognition and how to obtain the associated rewards.

“Eco-City Alexandria is about all things sustainable, including the ways we can save energy and water, reduce waste, and make other eco-friendly choices at home,” reads a statement on the site. “Whether you know it or not, it’s likely that your home already has eco-friendly features—such as LED lightbulbs and energy-efficient ENERGY STAR appliances.”

The city is accepting applications on a continuous basis, so there is no deadline. No limit is set for how many people can apply.
