Galactic Panther Hosts Closing Reception for Album Cover-Inspired Exhibit Feb. 27

ALEXANDRIA, VA-Galactic Panther Art Gallery is excited to announce a closing reception for “ON THE RECORD: A Group Exhibit of Altered & Inspired Album Covers.” This celebration will be held Thursday, Feb. 27 from 6-10 p.m., will be locally catered, and feature live music by EasyDoeziT who will warm up the gallery with an all vinyl set of Caribbean Rooted Sounds featuring a live percussionist. This art exhibit celebration is free and open to the public. Donations are gratefully accepted, and all artwork will be for sale at 1303 King St. Alexandria.
“Galactic Panther has mixed the visual arts with music from the beginning”, states curator Eli Pollard. “Not only do we offer multiple live music performances in the gallery every week, we also carry artwork by several artist / musicians like Mark Mothersbaugh of DEVO.” This group exhibit features a diverse group of 26 primarily American artists. Originally conceived as an exhibit that would alter album covers to offer small, affordable works of art in time for the holidays, it has expanded to include original works incorporating a wide range of media including mylar and video to more fully express the love and influence of music. The exhibit will also feature an extended selection of vinyl records for sale.
