ALEXANDRIA, VA-Sustainable waste is composed of materials that are reused. Reworld is a leader in managing sustainable waste with locations throughout the country. For the second straight year, the Alexandria location has been awarded the Platinum Level Award for Environmental Excellence by the Virginia Water Environment Association.

“The Virginia Water Environment Association (VWEA) is pleased to award Reworld™ Alexandria a VWEA Platinum Award for environmental excellence,” said Ryan Hendrix, VWEA President. “Reworld Alexandria’s continued dedication to pollution prevention and pretreatment permit compliance demonstrates the company’s commitment to being good neighbors and stewards of the environment.”

Reworld’s treatment facility on Eisenhower Avenue has demonstrated dedication and commitment to sustainability by achieving 100 percent compliance with its wastewater discharge permit requirements for over five consecutive years. The facility converts non-recyclable waste into clean, renewable energy. This practice is instrumental in the reduction of greenhouse gases and conserving resources.

“This award is a testament to our team’s dedication to creating solutions that address waste management challenges while prioritizing environmental responsibility,” said Facility Manager Peter Mayer.

In addition to this work, Reworld is involved in the community. It is a contributor to the Scholarship Fund of Alexandria.
