Dispose of Prescriptions Safely on Drug Take Back Day, April 26

ALEXANDRIA, VA-The city is encouraging people to take part in National Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 26. It is an opportunity to safely dispose of prescriptions and medications you no longer need.
At the same event last year, over 2,000 pounds of unused medications were collected.
The following drop-off sites, staffed by the police department and sheriff’s office, will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.:
- Alexandria Police Department Headquarters (3600 Wheeler Ave.)
- Fire Station 210 (5255 Eisenhower Ave.)
- The Neighborhood Pharmacy of Del Ray (2204 Mt. Vernon Ave.)
- Walgreens Pharmacy (3614 King St.)
- Wegmans (150 Stovall St.)
- Woodbine Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center (2729 King St.)

Volunteers will be on hand, sharing information the importance of safely disposing medication and promoting Alexandria’s permanent drop boxes. They will also raise awareness about the dangers of fentanyl use and distribute free Narcan.
