ALEXANDRIA, VA – The Alexandria Choral Society will host the inaugural One Voice Alexandria, a choral performance featuring them and the greater Alexandria choral community, on Friday, May 9, at 7:00 p.m. at the Rachel M. Schlesinger Concert Hall (NVCC Alexandria Campus, 915 E Campus Dr, Alexandria, VA 22311).  Alexandria Mayor Alyia Gaskins will serve as the master of ceremonies.

Performing groups include the Alexandria Choral Society, under the direction of Kathryn Harsha; the Alexandria A Cappella Collective (formerly the Alexandria Harmonizers), under the direction of Joe Cerutti; the Alexandria City High School Advanced Choir, under the direction of Theodore Thorpe; the Alexandria Singers, under the direction of Bill Colosimo; the NOVA Community Chorus, under the direction of Mary-Hannah Klontz; the George Washington Middle School Concert Choir, under the direction of Jessica Quesada Sayler; the Alexandria Children’s Chorus, under the direction of Megan Yingst; and the Choristers of Westminster Presbyterian Church, under the direction of Elizabeth Kluegel.

In addition to performing their unique talents as individual choirs, all eight groups, or approximately 450 singers, will come together at the end of the festival to perform Louis Prima’s Sing, Sing, Sing, ABBA’s Thank You for the Music, and Alexandria native B.E. Boykin’s A Unified Prayer.

Vendors from Alexandria-centered businesses and local music businesses/organizations will offer goods and services for patrons before the concert and during intermission.

Tickets are $30 for adults and $15 for seniors/military/students/children, and may be purchased at: www.alexandriachoralsociety.org/one-voice-alexandria

The Alexandria Choral Society concluded their season last May with “Just As I Am“, a musical concert about love, healing, and personal growth.
